Affiliate Disclosure
Short version: we earn a commission when you buy through our links, it costs you nothing extra, and it doesn't change what we recommend. Long version below.

The plain-English version
GreenCommuteGuide is free to read. It stays free because two things pay for it: affiliate commissions and advertising.
When you click a link on this site and buy something, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid going there directly. Nothing is added to your total.
That's it. There's no catch, but there is an obvious conflict of interest, and pretending otherwise would be insulting. So here is exactly how we handle it.
Who pays us
We participate in these affiliate programs:
- Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. This is required wording from Amazon, and it means what it says.
- EcoFlow, Jackery, Bluetti and Anker. Each runs its own affiliate program. We link to their own stores when their direct price or warranty terms beat the marketplace.
- Google AdSense. Google places display ads on this site and pays us based on impressions and clicks. We do not choose which ads appear, and we have no relationship with the advertisers.
What commission does not buy
This is the part that matters, so read it even if you skipped the rest.
- No one can pay for a positive review. Not a brand, not an agency, not a PR firm. We have never accepted this and we will not.
- No one can pay to be ranked first. Rankings come from the product, full stop. The product that earns us the most commission is frequently not the one we recommend.
- No one sees an article before it publishes. Brands find out what we said the same time you do.
- We recommend cheaper products constantly. A 300Wh unit pays us a fraction of what a 4,000Wh unit pays. We still tell people to buy the small one when the small one is right, because a reader who buys the wrong thing never comes back.
- We name products you should not buy. Every review on this site names at least one product that's wrong for you, and says who it's wrong for. Those links earn us nothing.
How the links are marked
Every affiliate link on this site carries rel="sponsored nofollow" and opens in a new tab. That's Google's required markup for paid links, and it's applied automatically by the code rather than by hand, so we can't forget.
On any article containing affiliate links, a disclosure box appears near the top of the page, above the first link. That placement is a Federal Trade Commission requirement: a disclosure buried in a footer is not a disclosure. It is also automatic — the site adds it to any article that mentions a product.
About prices
We deliberately do not display prices anywhere on this site. Two reasons. First, Amazon's Associates Program Operating Agreement prohibits displaying cached Amazon prices. Second, prices in this category move weekly, and a stale number on a page is worse than no number at all.
Every price button sends you to the live retailer page. What you see there is what you pay.
FTC compliance
This disclosure exists to comply with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255, "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising." If anything on this site reads like an undisclosed ad to you, that's a bug — tell us and we'll fix it.
