Privacy Policy
We don't have accounts, we don't have a database, and we don't want your personal information. Here's exactly what does get collected and by whom.

Who we are
GreenCommuteGuide ("we", "us") operates the website at this domain. You can reach us at hello@greencommuteguide.com, or by post at the address listed on our contact page.
This policy explains what happens to information when you visit. It applies to this website only, not to any site we link to.
The short version
- We have no user accounts and no login. There is nothing to hack.
- We do not sell your personal information. We never have and there is no mechanism on this site to do it.
- Third parties — mainly Google — set cookies and collect usage data. That is where essentially all data collection on this site happens.
- If you email us or subscribe to our list, we hold that email address until you ask us to delete it.
Information we collect directly
Nothing, unless you hand it to us
This site is a static website. It has no database and no server-side application code. Browsing it does not create a record with us.
Email address, if you give us one
Two places on this site can accept an email address: the contact form and the optional box on the sizing calculator. Both are entirely voluntary. The calculator gives you your result before it ever mentions email, and the result is never hidden behind a signup.
If you give us an email address we use it to reply to you, or to send the newsletter you asked for. We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to product manufacturers. Every newsletter email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, as required by the CAN-SPAM Act.
Information collected automatically by third parties
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which articles people read and which ones fail. It records things like the pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, your device type and browser, and how you arrived. IP anonymisation is enabled.
We use this to decide what to write next. We cannot use it to identify you personally. You can opt out entirely with Google's official opt-out browser add-on.
Google AdSense
Google and its partners serve the ads you see here. Google uses cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
You can turn off personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of many third-party vendors' personalised advertising at aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative.
Turning off personalised ads does not remove ads. It makes them less relevant to you and slightly less profitable for us.
Affiliate networks
When you click a product link, the retailer — Amazon, EcoFlow, Jackery, Bluetti, Anker — sets a cookie so it can credit us if you buy. That cookie is set by them, on their domain, under their privacy policy. We never see your order, your name, your address or your payment details. We see an anonymous count of sales.
Read the full details in our affiliate disclosure and cookie policy.
Your hosting provider
Our host keeps standard server logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested, user agent — for security and abuse prevention. This is normal for every website on the internet.
Legal basis for processing (UK/EU visitors)
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Consent for advertising and analytics cookies, and for sending you a newsletter. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Legitimate interests for keeping the site secure and functioning.
Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, and to object to processing. Email us and we will act within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
We do not sell personal information. However, "sharing" under the CPRA is defined broadly enough to include cross-context behavioural advertising, which is what Google AdSense does. To opt out, use the Google Ads Settings link above, enable Global Privacy Control in your browser, or email us and we will action it.
To make any CCPA request, email hello@greencommuteguide.com with "CCPA Request" in the subject line.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Data retention
Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Analytics data is retained per Google's default GA4 retention window. We hold nothing else.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Because we hold almost no data and run no server-side application, the attack surface here is genuinely tiny. We're not going to claim any system is perfectly secure, because none is.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
