1. Agreement
By using GreenCommuteGuide you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. We may update these terms; the date at the top tells you when we last did.
2. What this site is
GreenCommuteGuide publishes consumer information about portable power stations, solar generators and home battery backup. It is journalism and opinion, written to help you make a buying decision.
It is not professional advice of any kind, and we are not your electrician, your doctor, or your emergency planner.
3. Safety — read this one
Anything involving your home's permanent wiring is a licensed electrician's job. That includes transfer switches, subpanels, inlet boxes, and hardwiring any battery system to your electrical panel. Doing it yourself can kill you, kill a lineworker restoring your power through backfeed, burn down your house, and void your insurance.
Never plug a generator or power station into a wall outlet to "backfeed" your house. People die doing this every year. It is illegal in most jurisdictions.
Life-critical medical equipment needs redundancy. If you depend on a CPAP, oxygen concentrator, ventilator, dialysis machine or refrigerated medication, do not treat anything on this site as your only plan. Talk to your equipment supplier and your doctor, register with your utility's medical priority list, and have a backup to your backup.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions over anything you read here. If they conflict, they win — they know their product and their liability.
4. Accuracy, and its limits
We work hard to be accurate. We also get things wrong sometimes, and specifications change without notice.
Verify current specifications, capacities, warranty terms and prices with the manufacturer or retailer before you buy. Runtime figures on this site are calculated estimates using typical appliance draw — your appliance is not the typical appliance. Treat every number as a starting point, not a guarantee.

5. No warranty
This site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defect will be corrected.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GreenCommuteGuide and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of this site or of any product we discuss. This includes lost profits, lost data, property damage, personal injury, and spoiled food.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these exclusions, so parts of this may not apply to you.
7. Third-party links
We link to retailers and manufacturers. We don't control those sites and we're not responsible for their content, their privacy practices, their stock levels, their shipping, their returns, or their warranty service. Your transaction is with them, not with us.
8. Affiliate relationships

9. Intellectual property
The writing, layout, calculators and original graphics on this site belong to GreenCommuteGuide. You may quote us with attribution and a link. You may not republish articles wholesale, scrape the site to train a model, or pass our work off as yours.
Product names, brand names and logos belong to their respective owners. We use them descriptively, under nominative fair use. No brand on this site endorses us.
10. Acceptable use
Don't:
- Attempt to breach, disrupt or overload the site
- Scrape it at a rate that costs us money
- Use it for anything unlawful
- Misrepresent your relationship with us
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which the site owner resides, without regard to conflict of law principles.
