Is a Solar Generator Worth It? The Honest Math
It depends on one number: how often your power actually goes out. Here is the arithmetic, including the cases where the answer is no.

Nobody publishes this because the answer is inconvenient for people selling batteries. Here it is anyway.
What an outage costs you
A full fridge and freezer holds a few hundred dollars of food. USDA guidance is to throw out perishables held above 40°F for more than two hours — and an unopened fridge only stays safe about four hours. verify
So one long outage ≈ several hundred dollars of groceries in the bin.
Two spoiled fridges roughly equals the price of a 1,000Wh unit.
What the battery costs
A 1,000Wh LiFePO4 unit rated for 3,000 cycles, used four times a year, will not wear out in your lifetime. verify There's no fuel, no oil, no maintenance, and nothing to replace.
So it's a one-time cost against a recurring risk.

Three cases where the answer is genuinely no
1. Your outages are short
If the power comes back in two hours, your fridge was never in danger. Buying a battery for that is buying insurance against a risk you don't have.
A $30 cooler and $5 of ice covers a short outage completely, and you can buy the ice after the forecast turns.
2. You expect it to run heating or cooling
It won't. A 1,500W space heater empties a 1,000Wh pack in about 40 minutes. Central air isn't a conversation at any consumer price.
People who buy expecting this feel cheated, and they're right to — they were sold something the product can't do.
3. You think it'll cut your power bill
It won't. You put electricity in and get less back out. These are emergency devices.
Where it's obviously worth it
Someone in the house uses a CPAP. This is the strongest case in the whole category. A night's sleep costs about 300Wh with the humidifier off — a small cheap unit covers it, and the alternative is a genuinely bad night.
You're on a well. No power, no water. Even if the battery can't run the pump, it runs the fridge and phones while you use bathtub water.
You work from home. One four-hour outage costing you a day's work pays for a mid-size unit immediately.
You live somewhere with a bad grid. Texas, Florida, rural anywhere, or California PSPS country. The question stops being if.

Specs come from data/products.json. Capacity is the figure on the box — real usable output is roughly 85% of it once you account for inverter losses.
Around 1,000Wh with at least 1,800W output. That's the size that covers a fridge overnight plus internet, phones and lights — which is most of what an outage actually takes from you.
Below about 500Wh you're buying a phone charger with delusions. Above 2,000Wh you're paying for capacity most households never touch.
The honest summary
It's worth it if you lose power meaningfully, and it isn't if you don't.
That's a boring answer, and it's the one you'd get from a neighbour rather than a landing page.
